Not only do many people/companies expect results quickly on social media, they often expect a direct and traceable ROI to be evident as well. Often, social media is not about converting to dollars (at least not directly). Success in most cases is measured in the strength and community of your network.

Though, they do go hand-in-hand. A strong community breeds loyalty, trust, and brand recognition. These things can then convert financially, but it's a bi-product of your social media success, not the result.

Great list!

However, I think you also need to ask yourself questions about how you plan to handle negativity towards your campaign, brand, or organization. Look at negative comments as a chance to deliver great customer service!

You need to know plan response time to comments. Social media is open 24/7. Will someone tweet at all hours? Will someone reply during the weekend?

This list will continue to evolve as social media evolves.
